In Case You Missed It

Campus COVID-19 Policy Updates

Federal, state and county COVID-19 guidelines and recommendations have changed in recent weeks. Physical distancing protocols for campus have ended. Students and employees must continue to wear a face covering indoors regardless of vaccination status. Additional updates will come soon after details on the proposed UC COVID Vaccine Mandate are released and a system is developed to verify employees’ vaccination status to fulfill California OSHA rules.

Event Planning

Events on and off campus are subject to the same guidelines as laid out by the California Department of Public Health in the June 15 reopening guidance. Special arrangements for social distancing and attendance limits are no longer in effect; however, please follow the campus-specific masking guidelines which require everyone to be masked indoors.

RIMAC Gym Reopening

The indoor sports and fitness spaces in RIMAC will reopen on Monday, July 12. All guests must make a reservation to enter, which will become available on the Recreation website starting July 9. To make a reservation, you must have a Return to Rec membership (free for students). Your Questions Answered

Question: What forms need to be submitted before hosting an event on campus?
Answer: Events hosted by faculty and staff for their department or college should complete the Event and Activities Intake Form. Please note this form will soon be revised to remove the COVID-specific questions.
Center for Student Involvement Registered Student Organizations are not required to use the Events and Activities Intake form, however, they must start the Triton Activities Planner (TAP) at least 3 weeks prior to their event date.
Question: Can we have an indoor event if all attendees are masked and physically distanced or even vaccinated?
Answer: Indoor and outdoor events are now permitted on campus. All individuals must be masked during indoor events, regardless of vaccination status. Physical distancing protocols for the campus have ended. Please refer to the COVID-19 Event Planning and Attendance page for the most updated guidelines.
Question: Will faculty members teaching in-person in Fall 2021 be expected to also provide complete remote instruction as well?
Answer: No. While a subset of courses will have remote or hybrid offerings in order to accommodate international students whose arrival is delayed by visa or travel restrictions; most classes will be in-person only. Decisions about how to best serve affected students are up to the individual academic program. In some cases, the class may be taught as a hybrid, in others it may be split into two separate sections, each using a different modality. Students with exceptional circumstances may seek assistance through the usual processes for accommodation; faculty are familiar with providing specific arrangements for individuals in their classes.
