Medicare Waives Restrictions for Telehealth
Telehealth Approved for Physical and Occupational Therapists in Private Practice

Specifics include:

- CMS waives restrictions for therapist to utilize telehealth for private practice by classifying them as ‘distant site practitioners’ and adds primary wheelchair evaluation billing code 97542 for telehealth reimbursement retroactively from March 1, 2020.

- NSM and OT/PT associations are working to clarify if this change applies to hospital based therapists as well.

As the pandemic continues, so does our monitoring of the payer guideline changes in response to COVID-19.
