The Hebrew College Passover Companion offers a pathway into one of our central ritual moments—the Passover seder. The Companion is structured around the simanim, or signposts, of the seder, bringing you from the ritual’s beginning, through the meal, and to its closing. You might also be interested in registering for our Adult Learning three-session course "Finding Our Way to Freedom: Bringing Ourselves to Seder in Troubled Times" beginning April 1. We hope these offerings will generate new questions and conversations around your own seder table.

Ecstasy Burns Away Meanness

It’s almost too obvious to point out that we are living in a moment of profound meanness. Divisions and rancor are a given in our political discourse and in the way we see each other. People are on fire. The world is on fire. Some of that is no doubt healthy; this is not the moment for quietism. But so much of it is unhealthy. We should be on fire. But it is not necessary for us to be on fire towards each other, I cannot help but think of a low burning fire that spreads warmth and light is what our moment calls for.

“Legacy: A Woman of Two Worlds”
Featuring Works by Artist Frances Miller z"l

An upbringing steeped in tradition laid the foundation for Frances Miller’s art, which flourished against the backdrop of her Jewish identity. "Legacy: A Woman of Two Worlds" celebrates Miller’s drive to make an impact in both spheres of her life. From vibrant interpretations of biblical narratives to abstract explorations of faith and identity, infused with a distinctive style characterized by bold brush strokes and layered colors, Miller's oeuvre reflects the complex interplay between her Judaism and her artistic and humanist sensibilities.
