|
Dr. Nalya Rodriguez is a Maya Ch’orti’, system impacted, scholar and activist. Nalya organizes from this positionality in and outside of the university, advocating for an investment in youth development, education and enrichment programs. They have been involved in creating and supporting spaces for Central American students and formerly incarcerated students in universities and colleges across California. Their research focuses on race, policing, and media portrayals of violence in the US and Central America. They are currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology and Justice Studies.
