Storytelling Event - Transitions

Huge thanks to Sarah Lickfold from Transitions (Class of 2020!) for being the feature speaker at our May Storytelling Event! If you aren’t familiar with Transitions, we encourage you to
learn more about this incredible organization: they’re on a mission to end homelessness for women and children in Spokane and have almost 40 years’ experience serving some of the most
vulnerable members of our community. One of the best ways to help (in addition to financial contributions!) is by donating items from their current wish list at: https://help4women.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Transitions-2022-Agency-wish-list.pdf
Thanks for anything you can do to be part of the amazing work they’re doing!

Books, Strengths, and Snacks, oh my!

Thanks to everyone who made it to the May Alumni Book Club on May 26th! Picking up where we left off at our March meeting, we continued our discussion of the StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment and book by Tom Rath, including working through an exercise that demonstrated how our various strengths can be both productive and also can get in our way in other instances. A special thanks to Candy Casteal (Class of 2019!), a StrengthsFinder-certified coach, for facilitating our conversation and helping answer all of our questions!

If you weren’t able to make it to one or both meetings, but are interested in learning more about the StrengthsFinder assessment, you can contact Britt DeTienne at bdetienne@spokaneairports.net. Stay tuned for news about the next Alumni Book Club!

Champion Difference Makers!

They won’t officially be alumni until after Commencement, but we’re so proud of this year’s winning Leadership Spokane Community Service Project Team, who worked with the nonprofit Refugee Connections Spokane! Thanks to the generosity of the Avista Utilities Foundation, they earned a $1,500 grant for Refugee Connections Spokane. Great work, Class of 2022! You’re doing great things for our community, and we look forward to having you join us as alums!
