News from Dean Hershock

Professor and CASL alumnus Martin Hershock began his five-year appointment as the Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters on July 1.

On October 4, the university will recognize several distinguished alumni at its annual awards celebration.  Four CASL alumni will be honored at the event.  Click here to read about their achievements.

Sidney M. Bolkosky, longtime professor of history, director of the honors program and director of the Voice/Vision Holocaust Survivor Oral History Archive at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, passed away June 14.  Click here to read about his UM-Dearborn legacy.

CASL Alumni Affiliate awards scholarships

The CASL Alumni Affiliate hosted its 17th-annual scholarship celebration reception on September 12.  The event provided a great opportunity for the eight student scholarship recipients, along with their parents and other family members, to meet some of the scholarship donors and to thank the Alumni Affiliate volunteers for their work in raising these funds.

Beginning this semester, the College will offer a new accelerated Master of Public Policy program and has added a major in African and African American Studies.  The College also welcomed 11 new faculty.
