Now, Georgia Tech researchers have recreated one of those weathering sources, solar wind, in the lab — offering new insight into how the lunar surface evolves.

Mach 'N' Roll Launches in Mojave, California |
|
|
|
On July 11, the GTXR team launched Mach 'N' Roll at Friends of Amateur Rocketry in Mojave, California. Standing 16.9 feet tall and weighing 282 pounds, the team's eighth vehicle reached a club-record apogee of 31,850 feet above ground level.
After a smooth integration process, nominal lift-off, and successful staging, the team recovered both the nose cone and booster in excellent condition. The flight also validated the team's custom flight computer, which detected a tilt angle above the required threshold and successfully initiated the recovery sequence. The result demonstrated the effectiveness of a critical safety system and marked an important technical milestone for the team.
