I hope you all are enjoying your summer and rejuvenating break. Although it is summer, the campus is filled with students participating in our summer SOAR program, summer camps, and community activities.
We will welcome nearly 800 new first-time and transfer students to campus and their families for our summer New Student Orientation sessions. During the sessions, incoming students have the opportunity to learn about our nationally ranked academic programs, experience Coppin State’s culture, take campus tours, meet fellow Eagles, and connect with faculty and staff.

| Coppin State Appoints New Leadership
| |
President Anthony L. Jenkins, Ph.D., has appointed Dr. Dionne N. Curbeam as Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, and Dr. Joan S. Tilghman named as the Dean of College of Health Professions. Both served as interim leaders and have had a positive impact on Coppin State.

Khadija Ba, rising junior and second-generation Senegalese-American, secured an internship with Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland. Ba is majoring in political science that is focused on promoting equity, inclusion, and the upward mobility of Black communities.

Sam Nieves, senior outfielder, was selected to play in the 2nd Annual HBCU Swingman Classic on July 12 at the Globe Life Field, home of the World Champion Texas Rangers. The HBCU swingman classic allows 50 HBCU players to highlight their talents while honoring the legacy of HBCU baseball.

Nico Felber, Coppin State 2024 baseball graduate, signed a free agent contract with the Great Falls Voyagers, an independent professional team of the Pioneer League. While on Coppin’s baseball team, Felber ranked fourth in school history with 60 appearances on the mound. Felber also won four games with 113 strikeouts in 155.1 innings while totaling a 7.36 earned run average.

| Dr. Ron Williams, Founder of the Center for Coppin State’s Strategic Entrepreneurship, and entreperneur Jima Chester, sat down with Fox 45 to talk about Excellence in Entrepreneurial Learning (EXCEL) Research Project Report. The report is a study designed to assist youth aged 16-29 in Baltimore with navigating entrepreneurial opportunities.

Coppin State University is the first HBCU (Historically Black University) to lead the revitalization of a major corridor in Maryland. President Anthony L. Jenkins, Ph.D., and Chad Williams, the executive director of the West North Avenue Development Authority, were interviewed by Megan Rivers to share the plan for the redevelop of West North Aveune.
