Branching OUT : An Evening of Plants, Pride and LGBTQ2S+ Community

July 27th, 2022 from 6 pm-9 pm

Join horticulturists Tim Chipchar, Scott Ferguson and colleagues for a guided evening tour of UBC Botanical Garden’s collections. Afterwards, experience the Greenheart Treewalk, enjoy some light refreshments and spend time freely exploring the garden. Connect with other botanically inclined members of the LGBTQ2S+ community in this warm-up to the Vancouver Pride Festival weekend.

Where: UBC Botanical Garden entrance, 6408 SW Marine Dr., Vancouver BC. Please meet in the courtyard outside the Shop in the Garden.

Cost: Entrance to this event is by donation with proceeds going to QMUNITY: BC’s Queer, Trans and Two-Spirit Resource Centre. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Plant Identification with Allison Luke

Join Allison Luke for mid-summer evenings at UBC Botanical Garden to study native plants of the Pacific Northwest. This 3-part series is geared towards those who are new to native plants, eager to learn plant ID of the most common perennials, shrubs, and trees in this region, and how to increase biodiversity in your garden.

Participants are limited to only 12 people per session.

Tea Ceremonies at Nitobe Memorial Garden

A visit to Nitobe Memorial Garden is a window into Japanese culture and brings to light an important aspect of Japanese-Canadian history. Deepen your understanding of Japanese culture by attending one of our traditional Japanese tea ceremonies at Nitobe Memorial Garden with The Urasenke Foundation of Vancouver.

Cost: Fee $10 cash only (plus admission to the Garden which can be paid by card)

Ceremonies take place on the following Saturdays:

Times: 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 2 pm & 3 pm
