"The missing pillar of health is breath.  It all starts there.”Â
In his lifetime, Moshe Feldenkrais spoke and wrote extensively about the importance of breath. The fact that we breathe differently in various situations, like seeing the red lights of a police car or falling in love, and he emphasized that there is not one “right” way to breathe. Â
At the Feldenkrais® Conference Series this year, our presenters will inspire you with practical tools around the theme of “Breath” so you can reconnect with this most important pillar of health.Â
Â
Come get inspired! Awareness of our breathing has a far-reaching impact on our health and well-being. This year’s conference presenters will help you deepen your understanding of "Breath” through the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education, from the very scientific aspects to the most practical strategies you can use to breathe easier through life.
Â
As a little preview of the amazing presentations that you will see during this year's conference, we have provided an in-depth article on how we identify and understand the breathing habits and challenges that affect many of us. The article is written by one of our Feldenkrais® treasures, Fariya Doctor, GCFPCM, who is one of the many presenters at this year's conference.Â
Â
We also have the pleasure of introducing you to the work of two amazing women and Feldenkrais® practitioners, Catherine Rosasco Mitchell, who has created a pioneering 'Wellbeing through movement' program, taught at the Elementary school level, which helps children with emotional and physical self-awareness as a route to improved learning and developing a healthy relationship with the world around them.
Â
We also interview Janet Steele, a retired professional singing teacher and experienced Feldenkrais® practitioner about the lessons that she has learned about the breath. She has a vast knowledge to draw on about breath and voice use in singing and how they both relate to our ability to be happy and healthy human beings. It's a great interview and one you definitely don't want to miss!
We hope you enjoy this month's SenseAbility Edition and we look forward to seeing you at this year's Feldenkrais Conference.
