We hope that those celebrating Thanksgiving this year had a safe and peaceful holiday. It is hard to believe that December is already here! Still, it's never too late to join us in our virtual programming. Enrollment will stay open the rest of the year for any students interested in engaging with our virtual UACS programs.

Penn Updates

University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann, along with SDP Superintendent Dr. Hite, announced on Nov. 17th that  Penn will contribute $100 million to the School District of Philadelphia, representing an unprecedented commitment to the city and its public schoolchildren. This is the largest private contribution to the School District in its history. Click below to read more.

The holidays are often portrayed as a joyful  time of year, but we all know that they can also be extremely stressful. This is even more true during this holiday season as we conitnue to fight COVID-19 and its impact on our lives. The SDP wants to make sure that no child and no family goes hungry this season, and has compiled a list of all the schools that are currently offering meals. To search the list, click below.

Story Time with Stimulus Children’s Theatre! 

The Annenberg Center is partnering with the Penn student performing arts group Stimulus Children’s Theatre (Stim) to produce a series of read aloud stories for children this winter! Story Time with Stim released its first story in early November, and is releasing one more video this coming Wednesday, Dec. 2nd: Not All Princesses Dress in Pink by Jane Yolen, Heidi Y. Stemple and Anne-Sophie Lanquetin.

During this event, two former Police Commissioners, Charles Ramsey and Michael Harrison, will discuss approaches and obstacles to addressing systemic problems in U.S. policing.
