Greetings, Eagle Families,
Â
Welcome to the third edition of the New Families Newsletter! This newsletter serves to introduce first-year and transfer parents and families to the American University community and to provide you with resources to help set your student up for success at AU (view previous orientation newsletters here).
Â
Remember to check your inbox for information from us, New Student & Family Programs (NSFP), and from other campus partners. We are here to help in your student's transition to AU and throughout their time as an Eagle. And we look forward to welcoming your student and your family to campus next month!Â

Student-to-Student Advice
|
|
|
"Check your AU email! Showing up on day one not having looked at your email once is like showing up to hang out with your friends without checking the group chat once—a recipe for you being behind the rest of the group, so please check it frequently!"

📸 Students, Upload Your One Card Photo
Your student's AU One Card is their university ID that gives them access to their residence hall, university buildings, the on-campus dining hall, and so much more! Don't want to wait in line or take a photo in the One Card office? Encourage your student to upload a photo today and they can pick up their card when they arrive on campus.

🚇 Students, Pick Up Your AU U·Pass
The U·Pass program provides unlimited rides throughout the academic year on all Metrorail and Metrobus lines (including express and airport shuttle buses) for trips across DC.
Students can pick up their U·Pass in the Parking and Commuter Services Office on the Terrace level of the Don Myers Technology & Innovation (DMTI) Building in January. Please note, students must pick up their AU One Card before picking up their U·Pass.
