Pictures of the Week

Maroon Day Was a Huge Success!
Brebeuf Jesuit was excited to host its first Maroon Day on December 7, 2016 and wants to thank everyone in our community who helped us welcome more than half of all the early-admits to their "second-look" at Brebeuf!
Class of 2021 and their families got an intimate look at Brebeuf and had a hands-on experience conducting science experiments, traveling on a Google expedition, and participating in a
variety of classes!

Loves About Brebeuf
I love the family culture at Brebeuf. I came from Zionsville Middle School and the environment was just not the same. A large part of the family-feeling you get comes from the faculty. I love how teachers are willing to create a relationship that extends past the classroom. This relationship, I believe, is a vital part to the learning process because it is easier to learn from someone that you know cares about you.
Favorite Class
Picking one class that is my favorite is very hard, but it is between AP Statistics and ACP Calculus both taught by Mr. Graham. While both of these classes are challenging, Mr. Graham makes the material fun to learn. He always give us real life applications to what we are learning. I enjoy going to both of these classes every day.
Future Plans
I am committed to Lander University in South Carolina to play baseball. While at Lander, I plan to get a dual degree from Lander and Clemson University in Computer or Chemical engineering. If I decide that I do not want to major in Engineering, I plan on majoring in Accounting.
Teams & Co-Curriculars
Currently:
Brebeuf Baseball and Travel Baseball
Chess Club
In The Past:
Football Team (freshman through junior year)
Tatum’s Bags of Fun (sophomore year)
Circle City Relief
Miracle Place
Random Fact
I love warm weather and do not like being cold.
What has been your favorite Brebeuf experience or most memorable moment so far?
My favorite memory at Brebeuf was beating New Palestine in the Sectional Championship and also beating Zionsville in baseball 9-3.
What is your favorite part about the holiday season?
My favorite part of the holiday season would be getting together with my family. I have two older siblings, one in college at Dayton University and one that just graduated last year from Purdue, that I love spending time with. I also love Christmas because I enjoy seeing their faces light up when they open the gifts they receive.

Help for the Holidays a Great Success

Thank you to everyone for all of the contributions to our Help for the Holidays Drive. Our students delivered the donations to Catholic Charities last week and the volunteer staff members at the Christmas Store were overwhelmed by the generosity of the Brebeuf Jesuit Community.
Over 3,000 children living in poverty receive Christmas gifts from Catholic Charities. The Christmas Store Coordinator noted that the gifts from Brebeuf will go a long way toward providing them with what may be their only presents on Christmas morning.
The amazing support of our community prompted the letter linked below for the Volunteers of the Christmas Store.

Senior Umayr Shaikh Supports Operation Hug a Veteran

As part of a project for the Ignatian Scholars program, Umayr Shaikh '17 spent some time online applying for grants to help those in need.  He successfully secured a grant for $1,000 from Wells Fargo and donated that money to the non-profit organization of his choice.
Umayr selected Operation Hug a Veteran, based in Baltimore, MD. This non-profit provides care packages with bus passes, thank you notes, blankets, toilitries, food, and other supplies to homeless veterans all across the country.
Operation Hug a Veteran was moved by this kindness. As a fairly new organization, founded in 2016, Umayr's donation of $1,000 was at the time one of the largetst donations they received.
Pictured here is Umayr with the ribbon that was sent with his thank you letter.
We are so proud of Umayr for continuing to be a man for others!

Dedicate a Brick Paver on the Bravewalk

As we celebrate the holiday season, we enter a time of reflection and gratitude, thinking of loved ones and our most cherished friends. Now is the perfect time to honor your loved ones, mentor, or classmates by dedicating a brick paver along the Bravewalk.
Your brick on the Bravewalk will serve as a permanent reminder to all Braves, of a cherished community that lives out the mission of being men and women for others
Pavers are available for engraving in two sizes for a donation of $150 or $300. All proceeds benefit The Brebeuf Fund, which provides financial aid for students in need.  Purchasing a paver is really two gifts in one—a lasting tribute to someone you love and a meaningful experience to a student receiving financial aid.
Submit your order by clicking here no later than December 16 to be a part of our spring installation.
