Identity
When I think about Identity, our spiritual formation emphasis for the school year, I think about our youth and their willingness and ability to serve. It truly is remarkable to see how they keep stepping up, learning, and raising the bar of what they can do on behalf of our neighbors. Most recently they were able to respond on short notice to help a disabled veteran have a safe way to exit his home. I've since learned that he's been sending pics of his new walkway and freshly mowed lawn to person after person in his contact list. What an impact and testimony!
We have an amazing, God-given opportunity to join them in growth and show them how much we love them. Despite graduating several impactful seniors in May, average attendance is up compared to this point last year (not counting the Bridge students who join us for dinner) and will likely continue to rise with more invited friends and the current Bridge students joining the youth ministry in January. Take a peek at the photo in the next section to see what a recent Sunday night looked like. In order to provide the kind of environment we want for our students to fellowship and learn together, we need two adult volunteers at Engage going forward. This will let us use more small group discussions (a student request) and maintain a welcoming environment for our growing ministry. We also have the 5th Quarter, The Connection spiritual formation weekend, our fall fundraiser dinner and some exciting soon to be announced events for the spring semester--so no matter who you are or how you best serve, there is a place and a need for you. Use this link to volunteer for the fundraiser dinner, and this link for all other fall needs.
This ministry is too big and too great for any one staff, parent, guardian, or volunteer to manage on their own, but as we like to say at PHUMC we do best the things we do together!
