TEAMING UP AGAINST CANCER PRAYER THIS FRIDAY NIGHT
The Brebeuf Jesuit and Cathedral High School communities are invited to come together in prayer for cancer survivors and those bravely battling cancer prior to Friday night's Brebeuf Jesuit vs. Cathedral High School football game.
All who wish to join are invited to head to the northwest corner of the track with 2:00 remaining in pregame where they will be met by Athletic Director Ted Hampton and members of the Brebeuf Jesuit community to be escorted to midfield for a prayer immediately following the coin flip at approximately 6:58 p.m.
We hope you will join us in prayer to support those many families affected by cancer who are our family, friends, and neighbors.

psat information - october 16, 2019
The PSAT, or Preliminary Scholarship Aptitude Test, is one of the first official steps on the road to college. It serves as an introduction to the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) that is required for most college applications. All sophomore and junior students at Brebeuf are automatically registered to take the PSAT exam. The State of Indiana covers the cost of the test for all sophomore and junior students, so your student will not be charged to take the exam.
The PSAT will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2019. Students must be in their testing rooms no later than 8:00 a.m. They must bring several #2 pencils (no mechanical pencils), and a calculator. Cell phones and other electronic devices will not be permitted in the testing rooms, nor will any food or drink. Testing will be completed at approximately 11:45 a.m. (1:30 p.m. if approved for extended time).
The exam room assignments are linked below and will be posted throughout the school building in early October.

Autumn at Brebeuf – Photography Competition 2019
After last year's successful competiton brought forward some remarkable work, the Autumn at Brebeuf Photography Competition is back!
Both single artists and groups are invited to create large-scale digital works which illustrate Autumn at Brebeuf (with whatever that theme brings to mind).
The work should be submitted as a JPEG by Monday, November 13 to Mr. Winhusen at jwinhusen@brebeuf.org. A panel of judges will select a group of six semifinalists out of which everyone will be invited to vote for their favorite.
Voting will take place online. The details, including the link for voting will be posted on brebeuf.org and Brebeuf Jesuit’s social media platforms following the November 13 deadline.

Loves About Brebeuf
I love that Brebeuf is so dedicated to teaching and nurturing the whole person. I appreciate that we’re given opportunities like retreats to recenter and learn more about ourselves. Although Brebeuf is a rigorous learning environment, we aren’t just viewed as students. At Brebeuf, there is a genuine concern for us as people as well. Teachers and staff members are committed to not only guiding us academically, but socially and spiritually as well. I love that no matter who you are, what you believe, or where you come from, it’s clear that there is a place for you at Brebeuf.
Future Plans
I am planning on staying somewhere in the midwest for college. As of now, I am going to study biology or neuroscience. Hopefully I’ll get into medical school after that. My dream job is definitely to be an E.R. doctor.

Random Fact(s)
I color code my assignments in my student planner.
I love giraffes.
I’ve been on every retreat Brebeuf offers.
The summer before my junior year, I worked for Keep Indianapolis Beautiful on their Youth Tree Team, so I now have a love for identifying different types of trees.
Where would you travel if time and money weren’t an issue?
Hawaii. It seems beautiful, and I’ve always wanted to go. My parents are actually planning a trip for next next fall or spring...without me.
What is your current favorite show or series on TV, Netflix, etc?
Recently, I’ve been binging The Good Place, but that’s mostly because I’m waiting for the new seasons of Grey’s Anatomy and Stranger Things.
What is your silliest or most irrational fear?
I’m aware my car probably cannot actually do this, but I am terrified that I’ll forget to put it in park and it will somehow be rolling around the parking lot on its own crashing into things.
What is something you have learned in the last week?
In my medical and scientific terminology class, I learned the terms for a few areas of the abdomen. Specifically, I learned about the epigastrium and the hypochondrium. Is that a weird thing to be excited about? Maybe, just a little bit.
What are some small things that make your day better?
Walking around to the various offices searching for candy. Seeing Chief randomly strut throughout the school. A nice rainy day every once in a while.
Any big Fall Break plans?
My parents and I are visiting Emory University and the University of Chicago.
Would you rather 30 butterflies instantly appear from nowhere every time you sneeze or one very angry squirrel appear from nowhere every time you cough?
Definitely butterflies. Allergy season would be so much prettier.

new post on the goods: flyin' with ryan Not many people can say they learned how to fly a plane before they learned how to drive a car, but Brebeuf Jesuit junior Ryan Plaskoff certainly can.
“There are two pedals, so you push the right one to go right, and the left one to go left. When I first drove in the car, I accidentally hit the brake pedal to try to turn left and then the gas trying to turn right, so that contributed to some interesting roundabout experiences.”
Read more about Ryan's journey to the skies in our latest post on The Goods.
