Spring Emergency Lockdown Drill on Tuesday, April 2 at 10:15 a.m.
| |
This semester's emergency-preparation drill focuses on the college's ability to quickly and safely lock down the campus in response to an active shooter on campus. A number of shootings, including ones in Parkland, Florida; San Bernardino, California; at Umpqua Community College in Oregon; and at Santa Monica City College in Southern California, are poignant reminders of why we are compelled to take the matter of preparedness seriously. The drill will start with a broadcast notification indicating all on campus should shelter in place. The college's automated-locking system will also be deployed and tested by the public safety department. Faculty and staff will engage students in discussions following the shelter in place.
