News from NESA!

Today is our last day of the Spring 2024 season and final day of operation out of the Rundle Park, Steele Heights, and Kilkenny spaces. A huge thank you to all of the amazing members, instructors, and venue staff who have played a role in making this past season (and year) such an enjoyable experience. We could not have had such a successful relocation without your support!

It is now time to prepare for the big move back to the Northgate Lions Recreation Centre! This week we will be packing up and preparing to move out of all four rental venues. While we expect it to be a busy action-packed week, we are all very excited about moving 'home'.

Please stay tuned to future emails as well as updates to our website for more information about how NESA's transition back into Northgate goes along with Summer programming and reopening details.

NESA Office Closure Reminder!

A reminder to the NESA Community! Our office will be closed during our move and transition back into Northgate. Visit us at the McClure United Church for any last-minute Summer program or outing registration or grocery gift card purchases before 3pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 as this is our last day of operation in June.

We will be closed June 26 to July 12, reopening again on July 15, 2024.

Summer 2024 Program Guide

NESA is excited to be offering select fitness classes along with an array of different tours and outings this season. If you plan on being in town this summer and are looking for something to do, we hope you will join us for the fun we have scheduled.

Some of our programs and outings are already full so if you haven't already registered, we advise you to do soon to avoid disappointment in not securing a spot!

If your plan is to return to NESA in the Fall of 2024, stay tuned for our next program guide which is expected to be available the week of August 19, 2024. In the coming weeks you will also hear from us as we confirm the details regarding our 'Welcome Back Event' scheduled for August 23, 2024.

Reminder: If you prefer in-person registration, please note that the NESA Office will be closed from June 26-July 12, 2024 - please ensure to register before our closure! (During the closure, the NESA team will only be able to assist with telephone and online registration).

Summer Plans at Northgate

Please read!

During the summer season, NESA intends on completing some of its own building and space enhancements once the contract for the infrastructure work is all done, and NESA has full access to the facility. Plans for painting, flooring replacement (in select areas), reorganizing spaces, select furniture and equipment replacement, along with a few additional upgrades are tasks on the list for the NESA team to conquer over July and August.

While the Northgate Lions Recreation Facility is scheduled to be open to the public starting Monday, July 15, 2024*, please note that this is for members attending the fitness centre and fitness programs only. There will be limited access to spaces and amenities within the facility due to the ongoing renovations. The Cherrydale Cafe and Restaurant space will not be open. More details and information will be provided as NESA has more updates to share.

The Great Canadian Giving Challenge is back!

NESA is excited to announce that CanadaHelps is hosting another month-long campaign to help charities like ours. Every $1 donated to NESA in June enters us for a chance to win $10k! If NESA won these funds, we would be able to continue to sustain our Transportation Subsidy program ensuring that our seniors can continue to access their favorite NESA activities!
