Julie Hallet, MD, MSc, FRCSC, surgical oncologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Canada, will be the featured guest for Luncheon with the Experts on Thursday, June 17 from 12 noon to 1 pm, Eastern Time. Dr. Hallet is an Associate Scientist at the Odette Cancer Research Program, Sunnybrook Research Institute, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. She is one of four core oncologists at the Susan Leslie Multidisciplinary Neuroendocrine Tumors Clinic. Her clinical expertise includes neuroendocrine tumors; hepatobiliary, pancreatic and upper gastrointestinal malignancies; and minimally invasive and image-guided therapies.
The focus of Dr. Hallet’s research is on conducting health services population-based research to examine processes, patterns of care and outcomes for hepato-pancreato-biliary cancers. In particular, Dr. Hallet is dedicated to improving care and outcomes for neuroendocrine tumor patients by ensuring timely diagnosis and effective management. She is also working on implementing and evaluating outcomes of pre-operative 3-D planning and intra-operative navigation programs for liver surgery.
Dr. Hallet currently serves on the Continuing Education Committee of the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society, NANETS.
