Former WIOU/WZWZ (Kokomo) OM Greg Michaels died last Thursday. Born Gregory Price, he was 63. During his broadcasting career, he also worked at what was then WMRI (106.9fm, Marion), and at Country/WWKI (100.5fm, Kokomo). Here's a link to his obituary.

Woof Boom Radio's Classic Hits/WERK (104.9fm, Muncie) goes all Christmas. Also, veteran Muncie broadcaster Steve Brown ("Brownie") exits WERK after over 50 years in broadcasting. Woof Boom also owns MuncieJournal.com, and they profiled Brownie last year.

Correction: Yesterday, Nexstar and Tribune Broadcasting announced a deal where Nexstar will pay $4.1 billion for Tribune's 42 TV stations and cable network, including two Indianapolis TV stations.
In the Indianapolis market, Tribune owns CBS affiliate/WTTV-TV (Channel 4), FOX affiliate/WXIN-TV (Channel 59), and WTTK-TV (Channel 29, Kokomo).
Nexstar owns CW affiliate/WISH-TV (Channel 8), GetTV affiliate WIIH-CD (Channel 8, Indianapolis) which is also seen on WISH-TV digital subchannel 8.2, and WNDY-TV (Channel 9, Marion), which shares spectrum with WISH-TV.
Present FCC rules means a divestiture or spinoff will need to happen, but what form that takes remains to be seen.
That's all for this special issue. Thank you for your continued support.
