ND Day for Life begins with Mass, followed by march, rally

More than 700 students, faculty, administrators, alumni and friends gathered on Jan. 21 for a Day for Life. The event included a Mass for Life celebrated by President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., and a march and rally with speakers at the Hesburgh Library Quad.

Law school marks MLK Jr. holiday with day of service 

For the first time, Notre Dame recognized Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a University holiday, encouraging the community to honor King’s legacy in meaningful ways. Law school students, faculty and staff spent MLK Jr. Day serving local nonprofit organizations

Joe Donnelly confirmed as US ambassador to the Vatican

The U.S. Senate confirmed the nomination of Notre Dame alumnus and former senator Joe Donnelly as ambassador to the Holy See. Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., president of Notre Dame, calls Donnelly a person of deep Catholic faith commited to public service.

Pandemic, racial justice, economy got students to the polls

Nearly 72 percent of Notre Dame students voted in the 2020 election, up from 53.3 percent in 2016. The numbers, provided by the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement, reflect an uptick in youth voter participation nationwide.

VP of Human Resources Robert McQuade to retire

Robert McQuade, vice president for human resources for 17 years, will retire June 30.  McQuade established a number of initiatives, programs and enhancements to the Notre Dame employee experience.

Philosophers Meghan Sullivan and Paul Blaschko discuss tackling life's big questions in this Commonweal podcast. Sullivan is the Wilsey Family College Professor of Philosophy and Blaschko is an assistant teaching professor in philosophy at the University of Notre Dame.

Columbus Murals in Main Building temporarily uncovered

For instructional purposes, the Columbus Murals on the second floor of the Main Building are uncovered this week. Signage near the murals indicate the coverings have been removed to allow instructors and their students to engage with and discuss the murals.
