RE: Mike Crumpton Appointed Dean of the University Libraries
I am pleased to announce Mr. Mike Crumpton has accepted the position as Dean of the University Libraries effective immediately. Mr. Crumpton has served in the role as Assistant Dean in the University Libraries and stepped into the role as Interim Dean in February 2020. Previous administrative appointments include Director of Library Services at Wake Technical Community College and Access Services Department Manager at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.
Mike Crumpton is a tenured professor and has been a faculty member in the Library and Information Science Department since 2007. His active participation in University and other organizations include co-chair on the Provost’s Innovative Learning Spaces Council since 2022, the Emergency Management COVID group and Resumption group since 2020, and Editor-in-chief for the Journal of Learning Spaces since 2013. Mr. Crumpton is a past president of the North Carolina Library Association.
Mr. Crumpton earned his Master of Science in Library Science at the University of Kentucky, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Central Florida. Additionally, he holds a North Carolina State Public Librarian certification.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the search committee, and to the chair of the committee, Dean Randy Penfield, for their time and outstanding work and to the campus community for engaging in the search process to select Dean Crumpton.
