Welcome to our family!!

Please extend a word of welcome to our newest members, Gwen Adcock and Marilyn Williams, who joined our congregation at Sunday worship. We are delighted they have chosen to work with us to serve God at PHUMC.
Thanks for supporting our partnership with East Flora Elementary School. In addition to 55 gift cards, teachers  were treated to lunch by PHUMC during Teacher Appreciation Week.
District 4 (formerly East and West Jackson District) of the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church is hosting its second annual Missions in May, this Saturday, May 18.  Join other United Methodists from across Central Mississippi in reaching out in service and love. The five mission areas provide an opportunity for all skill sets to serve. We hope you'll join in for a day of service and fellowship with other UM laity and clergy.  All Mission sites will begin volunteering at 8:00 a.m. and conclude the day of service at noon. If you're interested, please contact Haven.

It's Time for Bridge!

The Bridge at PHUMC is a 2 year tween ministry that begins for some as they enter 5th grade and for others as they enter 6th grade.  This Sunday, May 19 (5:30-7:30), we will have our last Sunday night Bridge as we close out year one for this group.  In August, they will begin confirmation learning to be in conversation about their faith, learning about God, one another, and the history of the church.  Parents of current 5th and 6th graders will meet briefly in the parlor when you dropoff your Bridger this Sunday for a meeting to cover all things confirmation.  Please let Pastor Dawn know if you are unable to attend.
The work of another General Conference within the life of our church is finished, and you are invited to join Pastor Dawn Wednesday, May 22, in the Garden room at 10:00 am or 6:00 pm to hear a recap of the this two week worldwide gathering of United Methodists.
You can also visit the Mississippi Conference webpage by clicking here to hear a message from Bishop Sharma D. Lewis as we move forward together.

Our May communion offering will support the Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area 2024 Women Build and Faith Build.  Our goal is to provide $1,000.00 to both builds as well as aid with the actual building so be on the lookout for the workdays.
The Women Build will provide a home for Adrianne Davis and her 2 children; Kynedi (6) and Ky’Melvin (2). Adrianne is a single mother working as a  Warehouse Associate at Amazon earning $2,405 per month. Currently she resides in a 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom trailer home paying $480 per month. The home is very old with water leaks throughout and the plumbing is quickly deteriorating. What a gift for Ms. Davis to have an affordable house that she can call her own.
The Faith Build will provide a home for Tiffany Griffin and her son Brayden (14). Tiffany is a Bus Operator at Jatran and earns $2,765 per month. Currently, Ms. Griffin lives in a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment paying $720 per month. The apartment is not in good condition with major foundation and structural issues. The floors are in desperate need of repair, are very weak and beginning to rot. The lack of maintenance needs around the complex is also a great concern for the family. A new home would be a blessing indeed!

RECORD OF OUR FAITHFULNESS
Year-to-Date, April 2024
Income: $223,833.75
Expenses: $186,639.78

May Communion Offering, $1,117.00 to date, supports Habitat's Faith Build and Women Build programs. Goal: $1,000.00 for each build.
