Spring greetings from Paso Robles, where what had been a dry winter transformed wonderfully with 11" of rain in March. This rain, with the warming spring days, has produced amazing wildflowers. Budbreak is proceeding apace. News about that, and much more, below.

Remembering Robert Haas, 1927-2018

It is with sadness that we share that our founder Robert Haas passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 18th, surrounded by his family, at age 90. A seminal figure in the world of American wine for 65 years, and a regular presence at Tablas Creek into his tenth decade, we will miss him greatly but are grateful for the legacy he left us. His son Jason penned a remembrance of his father on our blog

2018 Vineyard Update

We have budbreak! We were grateful for the chilly late February weather and the wet March, which combined to give us our latest budbreak since 2013. Jason Haas explores what this all means for the 2018 growing season in his recent blog.  Also on the blog, a wildflower tour of the vineyard, also showing the amazingly green Paso Robles spring landscape. Those of you coming for a tour in the coming weeks are in for a treat.

Spring VINsider Shipments

Spring VINsider Wine Club shipments just went out to Club members!  If you are a member, thank you! You might enjoy this blog piece with complete tasting notes. If you're not yet a member and you're interested in joining the family, don't worry... we always set aside a few shipments for late additions!

We too strive to ensure that our work has a positive impact on our environment and our community, and our organic and Biodynamic certifications are just a part of this work. New Seated Flight Tasting

We now offer seated flight tastings at Tablas Creek! Enjoy a flight of wines in our semi-private seated room, including multiple vintages of our flagship Esprit de Tablas. Flight tastings are $25 per person ($10 for wine club members), fee waived with a $75 purchase. Because of our seating constraints, this experience is limited to groups of 8 or fewer. Guests may choose from classic (mixed) flights, all-red, or all-white flights. Although we will fit in walk-ins when we can, reservations are highly recommended. April Wine Feature- 2016 Cotes de Tablas

Each month, we pick a wine to feature, based on the season and how the wine is tasting. We offer that wine at an extra 10% discount, beyond any club or case discounts.
This April we are excited to feature the 2016 Cotes de Tablas. This blend features 55% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 13% Mourvedre, and 7% Counoise, with Grenache's juiciness and vibrancy given substance and depth from the three other grapes. Vinous awarded it 92 points, and said it showed "impressive eneergy thanks to a spine of juicy acidity." Great with everything from steaks, hearty pastas, or anything grilled, this blend will carry you through all those BBQ's in the warmer months to come!  Try it with our braised short ribs recipe.

2019 Mediterranean Cruise

We’re excited to return to the Mediterranean in the summer of 2019 to host a cruise aboard the Oceania ship Sirena. Executive Winemaker Neil Collins, with his wife Marci, will host this 14-day experience that begins June 15th, 2019 with a pre-cruise program in Avignon (including a behind-the-scenes visit to Chateau de Beaucastel and the Perrins' new properties in Gigondas, with a gourmet lunch prepared by Beaucastel’s Michelin-starred chef Laurent Deconick) before embarking in Monte Carlo on June 18th. The cruise will continue down the Italian coast, make stops in Corsica and Sardinia, cross the Mediterranean and proceed up the Spanish coast, disembarking in Barcelona on June 28th.

We also will be hosting tastings and wine dinners around the country.  Join us this spring in Ventura, Fresno, San Francisco, Pennsylvania, Carlsbad, Atlanta, and Santa Barbara.
