We are excited about our second Adult VBS Monday, August 18: Make Room for Wonder. Rev. Hannah Shempert, pastor at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Cleveland, MS will be our guest speaker. Bring your curiosity, your laughter, your imagination, your sense of play, and let's join together in making room for the wonder of God to meet us right where we are. 

This year will be hosted by Wells United Methodist Church. We will meet at Parkway Hills UMC at 8:30 am to carpool. Event is from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with lunch included. Wells has their own registration, but we ask that you register through Parkway Hills so we can handle payment and transportation for our group. Cost is $15.

Beds for Kids
On August 7, the PHUMC Beds for Kids Ministry delivered two beds to two precious children in Madison County. Those smiles say "thank you for my very own bed!"
The next day, August 8, sixteen men from around the Madison community helped Beds for Kids deliver ten beds to the Methodist Children's Home in Jackson. These hard-working guys were in and out in fifty minutes!
Then yesterday, August 12, five more beds were delivered to the Canton area.
Beds for Kids, a ministry that builds beds in our PHUMC basement, began officially in 2014, and to date has delivered over 600 beds. According to Bill Flynn, the program began earlier with Rev. Bruce Case and Brandon Jones. When Bill moved to our area and joined our church, they recruited Bill on the spot to help because he had a pickup truck.
The dream of Beds for Kids Ministry is that every child has his or her own bed. This year the ministry has expanded to include other churches in the Madison area to help with funding, building, and delivering the beds, fully outfitted with new mattresses, pillows, and linens.

We hope you will join us for our annual women's ministry planning meeting Thursday, August 21 at 6:00 pm at Newk's on Highland Colony. The goal of the women's ministry at Parkway Hills UMC is to provide opportunities for creating community for the women of the church as well as reflect on what the women of the church can offer the Madison County community. Our enneagram retreat is just one example of what came out of last year's planning meeting. All are welcome to come and join in the conversation, offer ideas, or just listen. Can't make the meeting but have an idea of how to create community or serve our community?

Training begins this month for a KAIROS Inside weekend retreat October 9-12, serving the women in Central Mississippi Correctional Center in Pearl. KAIROS Inside is a prison ministry with a mission to develop a Christian community on the inside of a prison. If you are interested in serving in KAIROS, have questions about the ministry, or even can provide home-baked cookies, talk to Connie Starkey, our PHUMC representative for KAIROS.
Acolyte Training Sunday, August 24 for children in grades 2nd through 4th. Meet in the worship center at 9:30 am.

Sunday, August 24: Pizza and Art Night 5:30-7:30. All those who invite a friend will be entered for a chance to win a Cane's gift card.
