April may have brought some spring showers, however it also brought a wealth of exciting programs and events to campus. I have shared some photos from Charter Day, EdgeCon, Academies and Idea Hall Project Showcase, and the Petersheim Academic Exposition. It was an enriching month!

We look forward to celebrating the 2025 Faculty Excellence Awardees at the Celebration of Faculty Excellence. We hope you will join us next week on Tuesday, May 6 at 5 p.m. in the University Center, Event Room as we honor the 39 outstanding faculty members that have been named the for Researcher of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Adjunct of the Year, Excellence and Innovation in teaching 21st Century Skills and Excellence in Service-Learning. | Assessment Advancement Grants: Summer Application Cycle Closing May 1 |
Now in its second year, this initiative provides up to $5,000 grants to support academic departments and programs in enhancing their student learning assessment and continuous improvement efforts. Grants will be awarded to implement new assessment methods, engage stakeholders, enhance existing strategies, modify curricula based on assessment results, integrate technology for assessment data collection and analysis, and support faculty training on best practices and data interpretation. | Bus Transportation for Commencement |
For faculty, staff and administrators who need transportation to the Baccalaureate Commencement Ceremony at the Prudential Center on Monday, May 19, bus service from campus will be provided.

Academic marshals: the bus will leave Seton Hall from the Recreation Center at 6:45 a.m. sharp.
- Non-marshals: the bus will leave from the Recreation Center at 7:30 a.m. sharp.
|
Buses for both groups will leave the Prudential Center at approximately 12:30 p.m. for the return trip to the South Orange Campus. Please indicate on the form a ride back to campus is needed. Seats are on a first-come basis and are limited. RSVP no later than Thursday, May 15, 2025. Reserve your seat for Bus Transportation.

University Libraries creates your required scholarly metrics report for tenure and promotion candidates. These reports include citations, h-indices, WorldCat counts and other statistics from our new Pure platform to help faculty prepare their tenure and promotion applications. We will set up a faculty profile for you as a first step. If you would like request a Scholarly Metrics Report, please fill out the . Ethics in Contact Rhetoric: Communication and the Dance of Bodies and Power (New York: Lexington Books, 2025) is a new book by Professor Jon Radwan and his research team, Team Contact. Radwan is an associate professor in the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media and director of the Institute for Communication and Religion. Ethics in Contact Rhetoric re-orients communication theory by centering touch and de-centering symbolic acts. Inspired by MLK’s tradition of nonviolent power, a contact orientation highlights the incarnate and immediate ground of communication ethics. Learn more and register to save your seat.
