Global Health Fellows Program Announces 2018-2019 Cohort

This year, 16 early-career health scientists were selected as VECD Fogarty Global Health Fellows for the 2018-2019 Cohort. The VECD fellowship will support these fellows as they complete 12-month intensive, hands-on research projects at affiliated international training sites. The fellowship began with orientation in July 2018 on the campus of the National Institutes of Health.
Vanderbilt-Emory-Cornell-Duke (VECD) is one of six consortia that comprise the Fogarty Global Health Program for Fellows and Scholars. The purpose of this program is to provide mentored global health research training opportunities for pre- and post-doctoral candidates from the U.S. and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to become the next generation of global health researchers and leaders.

PRISM Program Offers Grant Writing Workshop for Investigators in Mozambique

In partnership with the University Eduardo Mondlane (UEM), faculty and staff from the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH) led a 10-day grant writing workshop in Maputo, Mozambique to train Mozambican health professionals on techniques to strengthen and improve their grant proposals. The workshop focused on research in the field of HIV/AIDS implementation science with specific submissions to the National Research Fund which is administered by the Mozambican Ministry of Science, Technology, and Superior Education.
Research from awarded in-country grants allows investigators to gather important data that provides a foundation for competitive proposals with larger funding streams from U.S. and European donors.
