Sunday, April 19 and Sunday, April 26 we had some technical difficulties with our live stream. We apologize and hope to have everything back to normal this Sunday. You can find a link to the recorded worship for each Sunday below.
In May 2025, the bishops of the United Methodist Church released a vision statement designed to help the church live into the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world:
The United Methodist Church forms disciples of Jesus Christ who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in local communities and worldwide connections.
They built this statement around the themes of loving, serving, and leading. The invitation comes, however, not simply through the words, but in the way they are described. We are not just called to love, but to love boldly. We don’t just hear a call to serve, but to serve joyfully. And we aren’t seeking those who will just lead, but those who will lead courageously. The adverbs add a spark to the statement. For three weeks in worship, we join other United Methodists around the globe reflecting on what it means to love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously. The hope is that with some reflection and attention, we can be inspired to embrace an adverbial faith.
Sunday, April 19: Love Boldly; Scripture: Mark 12:28-34, Lev. 19:9-18, John 13:34-35. Watch the service here. Sunday, April 26: Serve Joyfully; Scripture: Psalm 100, 1 Peter 4:8-11.Watch the service here. Sunday, May 3: Lead Courageously (fitting for our Baccalaureate Sunday!) Scripture: Joshua 1:5-9, Matthew 28:16-20

Note from Methodist Children's Homes of Mississippi: PHUMC Youth, thank you so much for your kindness and for spending your Saturday morning with us for Campus Beautification Day!
Methodist Children’s Homes of Mississippi is home to many of our state’s most vulnerable children. Each year, more than 3,500 children in Mississippi live in foster care or group homes, and the most complex and critical cases are often placed at MCH. By the time a child finds refuge with us, he or she has often experienced multiple placements—an average of 20 moves.
Your time and effort to help us memorialize children who have aged out of foster care without 'forever' families, especially those who have died too soon, means more than words can express. This garden will remind us that they are not forgotten.
Please continue to pray with us as the Lord entrusts us with children seeking hope and healing in Christ. If you feel called to go a step further, I would love to invite you to sponsor a child’s participation in spiritual life activities for just $5 a month: Donate Now — Methodist Children's Homes of Mississippi. You can also sign up to volunteer during June's Healing Arts Camp: MCH Volunteer Application.
Thank you again for making our Beautification Day a success!

Miracle Sunday is a global, connectional effort to create an endowment for theological education outside the US in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines with the goal of endowing 500 scholarships in perpetuity ensuring that courageous, well-prepared leaders can serve in some of the most challenging missional communities around the world. Did you know that fewer than 5% of pastors outside the US hold a master’s degree in theology, compared to more than 71% within the US? Or that the US has 13 United Methodist approved seminaries while outside the US, there are 20. Further, the US has 1.2 billion dollars already in endowments and Ministerial Education Funds within these US seminaries. This is a gap we must and can address. Churches participating in Miracle Sunday will provide the funds to educate, equip, and empower pastors, create peace builders around the globe, raise up leaders who will do kingdom work in the midst of world wide politics. This is a sharing of resources to support those called, support the growth of the Christian church, and develop leaders together because no one person can do it alone. Thank you for giving generously.
