Hallelujah, Our Choir Is Back!!!!

Remember Marlee McLain singing? Remember a full choir in the loft? So many good memories pre-COVID! Marlee will join us from Nashville as her schedule allows, but the great news is that we have our choir back this Sunday!! If you have an interest in joining the choir, or if you have another musical gift you would like to share (such as piano or guitar), please contact David White, at david@parkwayhillsumc.org. Practice for choir is at 6:00 pm on Sundays.

Welcome, Rev. Haven Boyd

PHUMC is very excited to announce the appointment of Rev. Haven Boyd as our Associate Minister, beginning July 1, 2022. Rev. Boyd will lead our church as Pastor of Children and Outreach Ministries.

A provisional deacon seeking ordination within the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church, she is currently serving as the Associate Pastor of Christian Education and Discipleship at Laurel First UMC. She has a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School and a BS in Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of Mississippi.

"Bringing emphasis to the importance of Christian Education towards the formation of growing as disciples in Christ is a passion of mine. I look forward to carrying out the work of the Kingdom with you and the congregation of Parkway Hills UMC." Rev. Haven Boyd

Don't forget the time changes to Daylight Savings Time this Sunday!

This Lent we remember, celebrate and practice embodied faith. Each Sunday we will lift a story of Jesus and reflect on what Jesus teaches us about practicing embodied faith. Last Sunday we joined Jesus in the wilderness and when tempted, Jesus chooses us. If you missed our first Sunday in Lent, you may find the service here. This Sunday Jesus laments over Jerusalem and gives us the image of a mother hen gathering her chicks. I hope to see you there. We will have a special guest from Southern Christian Services to share with us some of the needs of children in our own community. I invite you to pray over how God is calling you this season to practice embodied faith. We have given some ways you can more fully enter this season but go where the Spirit leads! No matter how you choose to walk through this season, we ALL walk it together. May we observe a Holy Lent. May we practice an embodied faith.

Easter Yard Signs

Part of practicing embodied faith is sharing the hope that is our gospel story. We share the hope when we invite others to come hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and join us in our mission and ministry as church together. One easy way is to purchase a yard sign for Easter. They are $8 and will be available for pickup in the office March 20. You can pay via our mobile app or online (look for Easter yard sign!) or bring a check to the office. We only have 50 so it will be first come, first serve.

Parkway Hills Women's Ministry is planning a plant swap for the month of May. If you are currently dividing plants and wondering what to do with the bounty you may have, hang on to it and bring it to our plant swap! If you are not blessed with a green thumb, don't worry, you can do like Pastor Dawn will do and just buy a plant to bring. See Chere Peel if you have questions. More info to come on this gathering and other women's ministry opportunities.

Lost and Found Box

We now have a Lost and Found box, located in the Church Office. We have several items that have been left at the church. The box will be emptied at the end of every month. Please check this box in the church office for your belongings. They miss you and want to go home.

The lay leadership of the East Jackson and West Jackson Districts are excited to announce our next Lay Servant Ministries School which will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Clinton First United Methodist Church, 100 Mt. Hawkins UMC Job Announcement

Hawkins United Methodist Church in Vicksburg, MS is accepting full resumes and brief cover letters until position is filled for a part-time Director of Music. The person will be responsible to the church for the development, promotion and oversight of the music program of the church.

HUMC is also hiring a part-time Director of Children’s and Family Ministry. We will consider hiring one person to fill both Director of Music and Director of Children’s and Family Ministry in a full-time capacity, should their skills and interests meet the requirements.
