Guid day tae ye, mates! Hope yer keepin' grand! Having just returned from beautiful Scotland, where 15 of our exceptional Baylor students and a rotating crew from the OEL remain for the semester, I can't seem to shake the infectious lilt and warm phrases of our hosts in St Andrews. That's one of my favorite things about study abroad, I think—that although you eventually have to leave the place, it never really leaves you.
This month we want to call your attention to a few exciting opportunities. When most folks think of major fellowships and awards, they think of post-graduate awards like the Fulbright or Marshall. And as we celebrate the successful submission of applications for those awards over the last two weeks, we also turn our attention to equally life-changing opportunities available to third-, second-, and even first-year students: the Goldwater Scholarship for sophomores and juniors in STEM fields, the Truman Scholarship for juniors interested in public service, and the CLS and Boren for students of any classification who are interested in language, national security, and international relations. Read on for instructions about how you can apply—and for other opportunities to learn, research, and serve beyond the classroom. Have a happy Fall Break!
Cheers,
|
