| Sam Houston Council for Exceptional Children hosted the Area 6
Special Olympics Bocce Tournament at Holleman Field on September 27. Approximately 71 SHSU students officiated and cheered on the athletes, and 250 athletes, coaches, and families attended the competition.

This is a great chance to share your journey, hear real stories from those further along in the program, and learn more about student teaching, fieldwork, leadership opportunities, and scholarships!

The highly prestigious, nationally recognized Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship supports exceptional students who plan to teach STEM fields in a high-needs school with $10,000 per academic year.

Become a Charles Butt Scholar!
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be committed to teaching in the Texas public school system in either a Title 1 or majority economically disadvantaged school or in a priority subject area (math, science, special education, or bilingual). Applicants must also exemplify the knowledge, skills, and values listed below. Preference is given to Texas residents.
Application OPENS: Friday, October 17, 2025
