As an institution of the Commonwealth of Virginia, William & Mary is exempt from Virginia sales tax on all in-state purchases of goods and services excluding purchases of air/rail tickets, and hotel rooms. It is the cardholder's responsibility to claim this exemption whenever using the SPCC. The University will not accept liability for such over-payments. It is the cardholder’s responsibility to contact the vendor to recover the tax if tax is incorrectly charged.

America To Go (ATG) is required to be utilized for all on-campus food/meal events – this includes events with students. The SPCC may not be used for payment for these on campus events except grocery store purchases under $300. Questions? Email procure@wm.edu.

Under state law, a university employee may not accept any gift, even of nominal value, that tends to influence an employee in the performance of their university job. It is prohibited to accept gifts from current or potential vendors. Gifts from other sources (colleagues, professional networks) may be permitted if the gift is valued at less than a specific dollar amount. Disclosure of the acceptance of non-vendor gifts to you as a university employee to the Conflict of Interest Committee is required under the Conflict of Interest Policy.
