2018 President's Reception

On Wednesday, January 24, NAM members gathered for the 2018 President's Reception, which included celebrating the Academy's 2017 accomplishments, installing 2018 President, M. Kevin Smith, MD, and honoring physicians who have been in practice for 50 years. NAM Member, Jane Siegel, MD is running for TMA President-Elect.

Dr. Siegel has served on the TMA Board of Trustees, the NAM Board of Directors and as Speaker and Vice-Speaker of the TMA House of Delegates. She was recognized in April of 2016 with the TMA's Distinguished Service Award.

Rodney Lewis, MD is running for Region 4 Representative of TMA's Board of Trustees

Dr. Lewis has served on the TMA Board of Trustees, the NAM Board of Directors, and as a delegate to the TMA House of Delegates.

On January 22, Governor Bill Haslam announced his aggressive and comprehensive plan to end the opioid epidemic in Tennessee - TN Together. This is a multi-faceted initiative that uses prevention, treatment, and law enforcement to address the opioid crisis in our great state. TN Together includes legislation, proposed funding for 2018-19, and executive actions. "Our approach will be aggressive with provisions to limit the supply of opioids and significant state and federal dollars to provide treatment to those in need,” Haslam said.
