TCU Legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Surprises Horned Frogs With Iconic Gift

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (Tuesday, July 29, 2025) — In a moment that stunned TCU football players, coaches and others, TCU football legend, Pro Football Hall of Famer and TCU Trustee LaDainian Tomlinson (LT) surprised the Horned Frog community today by donating his iconic Pro Football Hall of Fame gold jacket to his alma mater.
The announcement came during an early morning visit to campus, where Tomlinson met with football student-athletes and staff at the new Mike & Brenda Harrison Football Performance Center. After connecting with players and Head Football Coach Sonny Dykes, the TCU great toured the new Simpson Family Restoration Center — including an exclusive preview of the one-of-a-kind “purple” snow room, a facility unlike any other in collegiate athletics.
“It’s a humbling experience to think where I’ve come from to presenting this gold jacket and to be able to give back to this program that has given me so much,” said Tomlinson.

The gold jacket—one of professional football’s most revered symbols will be displayed on the TCU campus as a permanent tribute to LT’s legacy and a source of daily inspiration for Horned Frogs pursuing greatness on and off the field.
As Tomlinson’s Hall of Fame legacy finds a new home at TCU, it becomes a lasting reminder that Horned Frogs are called to Lead On—on the field, in the classroom and beyond.
