UNICEF USA Global Citizenship Fellowship- Deadline: May 22! By helping to establish UNICEF’s domestic imprint, UNICEF USA Global Citizenship Fellows exemplify the concept of the “global citizen” as someone who understands global interconnectedness, respects and values diversity, has the ability to challenge injustice and inequalities, and takes action in a way that is personally meaningful. Fellows aim to organize and inspire their communities to take action for the world’s children by engaging local groups and cultivating awareness.Three fellowships in NYC are currently open:
Institute of Current World Affaris (ICWA) Fellowship Program- Deadline: June 15. ICWA wants to cultivate deep expertise in foreign countries and cultures. We achieve that by supporting fellows for two-year immersive programs of self-designed, independent study abroad. A prestigious ICWA fellowship provides recipients with the rare gift of time and freedom to explore regions and topics, expanding their knowledge at formative times in their lives, and sharing their self-directed, independent research through monthly newsletters and participation in institute events. See attached flyer for more info. Candidates must be under 36 years of age at the time of the due date for the initial letter of interest.
- U.S. citizenship is not a requirement, but candidates must show strong and credible ties to U.S. society.

D-Prize for New Entrepreneurs- Deadline:
May 12/June 2. The world has already invented ways to end poverty, yet the best interventions are not being distributed at mass-scale. Can you design a business or NGO that solves one of our Distribution Challenges. If selected we will award you up to $20,000 to launch a pilot in any region where extreme poverty exists.
Other Notable Opportunities
2019 Cox-State Department Diplomacy Seminar-
Deadline: April 28! The seminar is a fully funded, three day professional exploration program offering undergraduate students an introduction to diplomacy and careers at the State Department. As a participant, the Cox-State Department Diplomacy Seminar opportunity includes:
- Meetings with Foreign Service Officers and other government and international officials
- Facilitated discussions on career goals and strategie
- Guidance and resources on follow-up for diplomacy careers
Applicants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older by October 2, 2019
- Have an established grade point average of 3.0 or above
- Have a U.S. government issued ID or passport for entrance into the State Departmen
- Be able to participate in all aspects of the program for the full duration of the program
The Cox-State Department Diplomacy Seminar encourages applications from students from groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and those with demonstrated financial need.
Federal Aviation Administration Summer Internships for Undergraduate & Graduate Students-
Deadline: May 10! The Federal Aviation Administration’s Minority Serving Institution (MSI) Intern Program enables students to gain professional experience in aviation and aerospace facilities nationwide. The internship comes with a generous stipend ($11,700 for graduate students, or $9,420 for undergraduates). Students will be placed in a variety of career fields while building knowledge and skills within their respective location. These fields will include, but are not limited to: aviation research, flight standards and operations, computer science, engineering (aerospace, computer, civil, electronics, electrical, and mechanical), finance, business, legal, and other aviation and transportation studies. LMU students are eligible to apply and you do not have to be a minority to be considered.
