Dear Spartan Community,
We are excited to share an important update regarding the future of the San José State University campus store.
San José State University is partnering with Follett Higher Education, a leading provider of campus retail and course materials solutions, to enhance the overall campus store experience for our students, faculty, and staff. This transition marks a new chapter focused on improved service, expanded offerings, and a more seamless experience both in-store and online.
What this means for you:
|
-
Enhanced Customer Service: Follett brings a strong commitment to supporting student success with knowledgeable staff, responsive service, and convenient solutions for course materials and campus essentials.
- Expanded Options: From affordable course materials (including rental and digital formats) to a broader selection of Spartan gear and merchandise, you’ll have more choices than ever before.
-
Improved Access and Convenience: Expect a more streamlined shopping experience designed with your needs in mind.
- Elevated Apple Authorized Campus Store: The SJSU Spartan Bookstore is an Apple Authorized Campus Store and will now also serve as an AppleCare Provider. Follett will sell, service and repair Apple laptops and desktops.

What’s Next
Over the coming weeks, you’ll begin to see updates as we prepare for the official transition.
Faculty Members
Please note that Summer 2026 adoption submissions have been collected from Barnes & Noble, the current provider. Follett Higher Education is cross checking all course materials with Academic Scheduling to ensure no adoptions are left behind. Emails will be sent to faculty members by the Follett Course Materials team with more information. Lastly, a course materials focused message will be distributed to all faculty, which will include instructions and resources for your use before the end of the week.
Follett will begin greeting our Spartan community in person at several upcoming campus events:
|
- Saturday, April 18: Admitted Spartan Day
-
Wednesday, May 20: Commencement celebrations
- Monday, June 15: Soft Opening
- Late September: Grand opening celebration
|
These events will be great opportunities to connect, ask questions, and learn more about what’s ahead.
We’re Here to Support You
If you have questions during this transition, dedicated support resources will be available. Reach out to Rickey Pozos, Market Leader, at rickey.pozos@sjsu.edu.
We will also host Zoom office hours starting on April 21 through May 27, 2026 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to answer questions for any topic, including course materials, adoptions, and general merchandise.
|
- Tuesdays: 10:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m.
-
Wednesdays: 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
|
This partnership is centered on you, our Spartan community, and we’re confident it will bring meaningful improvements to your campus store experience.
We look forward to this exciting transition and to serving you in new and better ways.
Warm regards,
