Sarah (Ferguson-Wagstaffe) Ahrens ’93 recently celebrated the publication of her poetry collection, Mother Minotaur (Finishing Line Press). The work reimagines Greek mythology to explore the intersections of disability and motherhood, drawing on Sarah’s own experiences with hearing loss. Sarah currently teaches at Harvard University and is a Pushcart-nominated poet residing in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Gabriel Rosenberg ’99 visited Indianapolis on March 10 for a special event at Golden Hour Books to discuss his new book, Feed the People!: Why Industrial Food Is Good and How to Make It Even Better. Gabriel, who is an associate professor at Duke University, co-authored the work to explore how technology and policy can build a more abundant and equitable food system. More details can be found on the Golden Hour Books website.
Mark Weghorst ’99 is bringing his popular "boat-to-plate" seafood concept closer to home with the opening of a new Slapfish location in the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood. This marks the fifth Indiana expansion for Mark and his wife, Lauren, who have successfully grown the brand across Noblesville, Carmel, Fishers, and downtown’s Mass Ave. The new 2,000-square-foot spot at 49th and Pennsylvania Streets will feature the chain’s signature lobster rolls and "clobster" grilled cheese.
Ashlyn Heniff ’16 was recently matched with the prestigious Illinois Zoological and Aquatic Residency (IZAAR) program. This three-year residency is a joint partnership between the University of Illinois, Shedd Aquarium, and Brookfield Zoo Chicago. We are incredibly proud to see our alumni pursuing their dreams and advancing the field of veterinary medicine!
