Loves About Brebeuf
What isn’t there to love about Brebeuf? I absolutely love the people here. I came from a public school and never had a connection with the people or faculty that I do here. I love the people I am surrounded by and the way that the people here make me feel. I have never come to a school and felt so incredibly welcomed, and Brebeuf is truly special for the reputation it has of how it embodies the community aspect.
Favorite Class
My favorite class has to be either Honors Anatomy and Physiology with Mrs. McCarter because of the fun and engaging ways she had to teach us the information. Or AP Macro with Mr. Tague. I had always heard such wonderful things about him, and finally having him as a teacher was so fun because not only was he an exceptional teacher but he made the class extremely interesting and really cares for every one of his students.
Future Plans
I hope to have a medical degree and married to one of the Arizona basketball players. Even though I constantly complain about Indiana, I wouldn’t mind coming back to live here when I’m older because I really love Indy (except during winter).
Teams & Co-Curriculars
Varsity soccer all four years
Indiana Fire DA club soccer
Actively volunteer
Random Fact(s)
I was born in California.
I watch a scary movie almost every single day while doing homework.
I have an older brother that is nothing like me--he used to work at Brebeuf too.
I believe in ghosts.
I tripped over a cord and fell down the stairs when I was younger and split my chin open.
What is your current favorite show or series on tv, Netflix, etc?
My favorite show is Black Mirror because they have some of the craziest shows on there and I think the concepts within the show are just so cool and seem somewhat possible. I also love Criminal Minds, but I finished the show a long time ago. Other than Netflix and Hulu I don’t watch TV.
If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go and why?
I would love to go to Santorini, Greece, it is absolutely beautiful and seems so unique. There is something so breathtaking about Greece that really makes me want to go, so hopefully one day I’ll get to travel there.
You committed to play soccer at the University of Arizona (congratulations!)  Can you walk us through what the recruiting process was like?
Looking back on it I laugh because I was so young and had to make a decision that would impact me for the rest of my life. It was a really cool process, but at times it got so stressful. I would have to go through my coach to contact schools and wait on responses, and then travel really far to be able to see the schools I wanted to see. My final four were Wisconsin, Santa Clara, Pepperdine, and Arizona. When I first started looking I never considered Arizona as one of the schools I wanted to attend, but after a showcase they showed interest and became one of my top schools. After visiting all the schools it came down to Arizona and Wisconsin and my parents were of absolutely no help. They wanted me to make the decision myself which I look back and am so grateful for because if they had told me their input of where to go I don’t know if it would’ve been the right place. It was a hard decision, but I am so glad I chose Arizona.
You are now in your final semester at Brebeuf Jesuit.  Has it sunk in yet?
Sometimes it does, and sometimes I push the thought away. I know it is going to continue to fly by, but everyday I try to spend time with my friends outside of school and do fun things to make my last few months in high school the best they can be. I am excited for college, but I have absolutely loved everything Brebeuf has done for me so I know it will be a challenge to leave.
In what way have you changed the most since your freshman year?
I think I have grown so much as a person. I am confident in who I am, and when I came to Brebeuf I was so far from that. I have found some of the best friends I could’ve ever asked for, and even though freshman year seems like it was so far away, little did I know that it would be the basis for who I am today.
Another week, another #Spotlight of a student with a parent working in the building.  Only this time, we asked for the student's perspective.  We asked Hallie the question below:
Going to school everyday where your mom works...what is that like?
Not going to lie, I used to hate it. I was so embarrassed that my mom worked at the school I went to, but as the years have gone on I have come to love turning the corner and being able to say hi or ask for whatever it may be. It truly is nice because I don’t always spend much time at home so getting to see her in school is a nice little way to catch up. She truly is one of the best people I know, and I am happy she works at Brebeuf. Even though my friends say they like her more than me...

The Brebeuf Food Drive Launches Next Week!

Brebeuf Jesuit is once again holding a canned food drive during Lent, February 14-March 29, 2018.
For years, our students, faculty, staff, and families have participated in this meaningful drive supporting St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry, donating enough cans of food to fill two semi-trucks! In addition, cash donations from our school community are able to buy tens of thousands of pounds of food each year.
Homeroom classrooms at Brebeuf will hold collections to once again to compete for the grand prize – a pizza party. To maximize our school’s impact, this year’s goal is for every student and staff member is to collect 20 cans each.
St. Vincent de Paul feeds roughly 3,300 families every week, or roughly 12,000 individuals, many of whom are children and the elderly. Every can is helpful!
How to Help
To contribute to the drive, send any canned food items to Brebeuf Jesuit with a Brebeuf student, who will deliver the items to their homeroom collection. To contribute monetarily (Make checks out to: St. Vincent de Paul, memo: Food Pantry), and bring donations of support to the Main Lobby Desk at Brebeuf Jesuit.
By coming together during this food drive, the entire Brebeuf Jesuit community can make an incredible difference in the lives of thousands in need here in Indianapolis! Let’s bring in those cans to your student’s homeroom and support St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry.
