The Black Girls in STEAM Summit was a rousing success! High school and university undergraduates were in attendance with their mothers, aunties, neighbors, and friends.
Clarice Phelps offered inspiring words by sharing with participants how she initially struggled with math and test taking, but overcame those obstacles by asking for help, and learning new study skills. Black girl magic has to be made and nurtured.
The Creative Girls Rock Team shared artful ancestor wisdom about cultivating mindfulness and learning to let go of negative self talk. The art portion of the program ended in a release of lanterns into a blue and hopeful sky.
