In Case You Missed It

Plan Ahead for Fall Break

Fall Break will take place Nov. 25-28. As you begin to make plans, please reference these resources and make note of holiday closures.

Submit Your Flu Vaccine Attestation by Friday

If you have not done so already, please submit affirmation that you received a flu vaccination, or submit declination of the vaccine, by Friday, Nov. 19. Individuals who choose to decline will be required to wear masks or face coverings. All students and employees must be vaccinated or affirmatively decline vaccination per a UC systemwide executive order.

Masking Expectations While Dining Indoors

Capacity limits for campus dining facilities have been lifted. Fully vaccinated students and employees may remove their mask while actively eating or drinking at a campus eatery, at the employee’s workstation or in an employee break room. Unvaccinated students and employees must continue to eat either alone in a closed office or closed room, or physically distanced from others outdoors or at a campus eatery.

Digital Vaccine Record

Employees and students can access a digital copy of their COVID-19 vaccine records through MyUCSDChart or MyStudentChart. Generate a QR code that can soon be read by participating organizations or download a PDF record of your vaccine doses. Students may also self-enter vaccines received outside of UC San Diego Health.

Your Questions Answered

Question: Are appointments to receive a COVID-19 booster now available?
Answer: Yes, appointments for Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine boosters are now available for all students and campus and health employees. Currently, the University of California vaccine mandate does not require the COVID-19 vaccine booster (third shot) as part of being compliant with the mandate.
Question: Are booster shots the same formulation as existing vaccines?
Answer: Yes. COVID-19 booster shots are the same formulation as the current COVID-19 vaccines. However, in the case of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine booster shot, it is half the dose of the vaccine people get for their initial series.
Question: Can I receive a flu shot on campus?
Answer: Campus members are encouraged to get the flu shot through their primary care provider or through a local pharmacy. Faculty, staff and students who need access to a flu vaccine may also make an appointment on campus through our partnership with UC San Diego Health. To make an appointment, students should go to MyStudentChart, and employees can visit flu.ucsd.edu.
