As a point of clarity, while the community elects board members, specific appointments such as the Board President are determined by the board at their July meeting.
|
|
As many are aware, RVRMA is governed by the RVRMA Executive Board, which consists of seven members. RVR's management team takes care of day-to-day operations; the Board’s role is more sharply focused on strategy, policy and governance.
According to RVRMA By Laws, board members serve a three-year term and there are no term limits. Every year, a portion of RVRMA Board Member terms expire. This summer two board member terms will expire including, Board President, Mike Banbury and Board Director, RJ Spurrier. If these board members are interested, they may continue to serve and can do the same as any other homeowner: declare their candidacy. The deadline for doing so is Friday, June 7.
For homeowners who are interested in declaring their candidacy for an upcoming vacant board seat, they can do so by filling out a Statement of Interest here.

Eight RVR bicyclists zoomed up Independence Pass on May 18, joining about 325 riders who took part in the 30th annual “Ride for the Pass,” a fundraiser for the non-profit Independence Pass Foundation. The 10-mile journey included 2,300 vertical feet of climbing that began at the winter closure gate on Highway 82, and ended at the Independence Ghost Town.
Half of RVR’s riders were on e-bikes; the rest rode traditional bikes without pedal assist. Following a downhill sprint to the start line after the event ended, a barbecue capped off the day. The Ride for the Pass was what RVR resident Jane Warren called a BFI: a Big Fun Idea.

Long Range Planning
Vote Passes
|
The recent vote on the proposed special assessment has concluded and the majority of the community has voted in favor of the initiative.
The vote results are as follows:
|
- Total number of lots/units who cast a vote: 383 (69% of all voters)
- Number of "Yes" votes: 251 (66% of those who cast a vote)
- Number of "No" votes: 132 (34% of those who cast a vote)
-
Number of lots/units who did not cast a vote: 169
|
| |
|
In order to pass, we needed a simple majority of “Yes” votes, with at least 60% of all properties participating (to meet a quorum). We have exceeded the quorum threshold with 69% of all properties participating in the vote. 66% of voters authorized the special assessment, representing a majority. As a result, the special assessment is hereby authorized.
The approved special assessment amount is $5,500 per lot or unit. Please note that the collection of this assessment is being carried out through a separate invoice, which has been sent to your email on record with the HOA. The invoice will come to you directly from RVR's QuickBooks account. The invoice will have information regarding payment details inclusive of auto-pay options. You will have the option to make either a partial payment (1/2 of the assessment) or the full payment on or before October 1, 2024. If you are splitting up the payment, the second half of the amount owed is due on or before August 1, 2025. However, we want to emphasize that you are free to make the payment at any time that is convenient for you before the due date.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the special assessment or the payment process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to assist you and provide any necessary clarifications.

Staying Safe
Around Bears |
The best thing we can do to protect bears and stay safe around them is to secure all attractants on properties. Bears can be attracted to the neighborhood in various ways, including trash left out overnight, bird feeders, pet food, barbeque grills, fruit and compost.

The Miller moths are coming! Millers are dark gray and brown with a wingspan of up to 2 inches. These large moths migrate in mass populations from eastern Colorado into the mountains in the spring looking for a reliable source of nectar in summer flowers. These moths tend to swarm in large numbers and can get into your car, garage, or home. During their migration west, the moths do not reproduce or lay eggs. In your home, they don't eat clothing, furniture, or food. Although they are harmless, they can be a nuisance. To minimize moth infestation, seal any obvious openings to your home, particularly around windows and doors. Keep your garage doors closed and car windows up. It also helps to turn off outside lights at night around your home. But if they do get into your home, resist the urge to squish them and just let them out. They are important pollinators and a good food source for bats and birds.
