Green Tip | Arbor Day
Please enjoy the following eco-friendly tidbit brought to you by Friends of the Environment:
Arbor Day was created to encourage people to plant trees and other plants and is traditionally celebrated the last Friday in April, although some communities prefer a week earlier or later, depending on weather. Trees remove carbon dioxide from the air and release oxygen in its place. They are vital for keeping the air clean and healthy for us, for combatting global warming, and cooling our neighborhood. Carbondale celebrates Arbor Day on May 6 this year. The hands-on tree planting celebration begins at 10 a.m. at the Thompson House Museum grounds. A representative from the Colorado State Forest Service will also be demonstrating pruning techniques and answering questions about tree care. It sounds tree-rific. Click here for the event flyer.

Supporting Pollinators this Spring
Mowing higher (or less frequently) can provide many benefits to pollinators! Click here to read an article from Consumer Reports website on the topic.
Remember, Section 3.26 of the design guidelines states "Owners must diligently maintain, trim, weed...and otherwise keep in healthy attractive condition the shrubs, trees, hedges, grass, planters, gardens and other landscaping." So if you plan to execute a high grow threshold for turf at your residence this spring, be sure that your landscape remains in healthy attractive condition through the process.

No Outside Alcohol Permitted
As a kind reminder, alcohol purchased outside the Ranch House and consumed here is strictly prohibited! The Ranch House faces the risk of losing its liquor license when this rule is not followed.
So whether you are enjoying a hot tub soak or participating in a tennis match on one of our clay courts, we invite you to try one of the many delicious adult beverages we have for sale.

Irrigation and Landscaping
Our main lines are pressurized and the majority of homes now have water! Homeowners can now turn on their water at the curb valve. Please note, RVR crews are working through the weekend in an attempt to restore water in the Settlement and Old Town Neighborhood due to a mainline break.
Click here for an informational document featuring steps you should take when starting your sprinklers to ensure that your system is functioning properly and efficiently.
For up to date information and timelines for everything from weed mitigation/spraying to mowing schedules, please visit our updated landscaping page.

Youth Gym & Safety Course
At the April 26 board meeting, the board approved a change to the RVRMA Rules & Regulations regarding the minimum age requirements for fitness facility users. Previously, the rule stated users under 15 years old were not permitted on the second-floor fitness facility. The board approved the following change:
Children under the age of fifteen (15) are not permitted in the second floor Fitness Center of the Ranch House unless:
- The child is at least the age of eleven (11) and is exercising under the supervision of their parent. The parent must remain with the child in the gym.
- The child is at least the age of eleven (11) and is exercising under the supervision of an RVR approved personal trainer and has permission from their parents and RVR management.
- The child is at least the age of thirteen (13) and has completed a course with an RVR approved fitness instructor for gym etiquette and safety, and parents of the child have completed an additional waiver for their child to use the gym without their supervision.
Do you have a 13- or 14-year-old teen who would like to use the gym without a parent? Click here to learn more about the process.

Did You Know? | RVR Multi- Use Path
RVR is a special place and there are various details about the community that many may not be aware of. To help inform homeowners about all of RVR's unique features, we will run a "Did You Know" section each week in the newsletter.
What are the allowable uses of the public path?
The asphalt path the runs through RVR is multi-use. The trail is open to those on foot, bicycles, in-line skates and skateboards. Wheelchairs, both motorized and non-motorized, are permitted.
The Town of Carbondale is responsible for repairing, replacing, and maintaining all paved paths at RVR.
We ask that members help keep these paths safe and comfortable for all users. Bicyclists should ride to the right and pass others on the left, give an audible signal with your voice or a bell as you approach others before passing and give others a comfortable space of a few feet when passing. Do not pass others unless you have a clear view of any oncoming trail users to judge when it is safe to pass.
Thank you for showing courtesy to all path users!

Deer Fencing Storage
A kind reminder to RVR residents who are storing their deer fencing for the summer season: please make sure it’s stored out of sight from the street and from your neighbors. Whether that means storing the fencing in your basement, attic, crawl space, or offsite away from RVR, please find a place for the deer fencing that has no visual impact on the RVR community.
The deer fencing removal deadline has been extended to Wednesday, May 31. You may remove fencing at any time, but must have it down and properly stored by the deadline.
To view the Design Review Guidelines on deer fencing click here.

Gas Leaf Blowers Prohibited
Please be aware that the Town of Carbondale has an ordinance prohibiting the use of gas powered leaf blowers. We ask that homeowners reach for a rake or electric leaf blower as a substitute to the prohibited gas powered option. Be sure to communicate this to your contractors as well!
