From the Dean

Sally Gertz
Earlier this summer, we said a bittersweet goodbye to Professor Sally Gertz, who retired after more than 20 years of dedicated service to FSU Law. As co-director of externships, Sally developed and managed our clinical externship placements at government agencies, public interest organizations, courts and corporations. Sally helped put in place a suite of externship opportunities for our students richer than just about any other law school in the nation. She connected hundreds of students with fulfilling, sometimes life-changing work experiences and significantly expanded our externship offerings. Under Sally’s teaching and guidance, students externed in cities around the nation and obtained hands-on experience in areas including appellate law, government law, civil law, corporate law, international law, public interest law and judicial clerking. We are deeply indebted to Sally and hope her retirement is as rich as her career at FSU Law! She reports that she has moved to Manhattan's Upper West Side, where she is enjoying the cool weather, riding her bike in Central Park, and seeing as many plays, concerts and ballets as possible.
