Following on from Asian Heritage Month (in May) where we highlighted three trails in the David C. Lam Asian Garden named for Asian Botanists (pamphlet available at the admissions desk), June in the Garden follows up with four additional trails of interest in the Asian Garden.

Summer is almost here, and the Garden is teaming with Pollinators. Join Scott Ferguson for a members-only tour. In this fun session learn how incredibly important pollinators are, and their impact on the floral diversity of natural ecosystems. What attracts pollinators to particular flowers? How has this shaped the evolution of those plants? Using the plants of the garden as a medium, Scott will discuss pollination syndromes.

Scott Ferguson is a horticulturist at UBC Botanical Garden. He has been with the Garden since 2016.

Two tour options are available:

July 9, 2022 at 9:00 am and July 12, 2022 at 6:00 pm

Douglas Justice awarded Silver American Rhododendron Society medal

We are pleased to announce that Douglas Justice, Associate Director of Horticulture and Collections at UBC Botanical Garden has recently been awarded the Americal Rhododendron Society Silver medal.

Douglas Justice, Associate Director of Horticulture and Collections at UBC Botanical Garden was awarded the Silver medal. The ARS mentioned that Douglas was a very worthy candidate for their Silver medal, as shown by the wording of his citation, perhaps in part influenced by his father, Clive Justice, who was awarded the ARS Gold medal in 2000.
