Faith, Finances, and Entrepreneurship in the Black Church
The Black Church has always been a major pillar in African American life and social progress. From the earliest days of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in the 1800s to the modern Civil Rights Movement through today, the Church has been a mouthpiece and prophetic instrument to inspire meaningful change. Last week, Turner Chapel AME Church continued in this tradition through their Financial Empowerment Conference series where Chairman John Hope Bryant was a keynote speaker. Among the many tools Chairman Bryant offered to help "immunize" the attendees financial health, he spoke on the virtues of entrepreneurship and how it can power generational wealth and community growth.
1 Million Black Businesses, powered by HOPE and Shopify, seeks to help uplift communities across America by standing up and refitting 1 million Black-owned businesses over the next 10 years. The Black Church, as it has been in the past, will be crucial in making this goal a reality.
