COVID Reminders
With the recent surge in cases, as well as both schools and regular weekly youth activities starting back, it's important to make sure we're all on the same page about how our church community is responding to love God and neighbor.
-In August, our Leadership Team developed and announced the following policy: If your child and/or youth attends Sunday School and tests positive for COVID the following week, we ask that you please notify the church office. We will keep the name of your child confidential, but we will cancel Sunday School the following Sunday and any other weekly children/youth activities the following week out of an abundance of caution. Parents and teachers will be notified of the cancelation and given the start date to resume. We will also follow our local schools, and if a school requires a shut down due to the number of COVID cases, we will also cancel appropriate children/youth activities until the school shutdown is over. As a reminder, if you or anyone in your household is ill for any reason or presenting any symptoms of Covid-19, please stay home as a family.
-As of this past week, boosters are now available to ages 12-15 as long as it has been 5 months since Pfizer shot #2 (note the change down to 5 months). Those 16 and up can do so as well, of course. To be sure, I tried booking a fictional 12 year-old for a booster on Friday through Walgreen's and their system is indeed updated. With school starting back, the winter retreat coming up, and science that shows booster efficacy gains prior to the full eventual peak, this would be a great week to top off that immune system.
-I'm increasing the amount of mask wearing I'm doing both at church and elsewhere (I'm considered to be in a risk category via medical status). There's ample research to show it's worth upgrading to a good KN95 or N95 mask, regardless of vaccine or medical condition. If you have trouble finding these without price gouging, a surprising number of home improvement stores still have ample supply and ProjectN95 is a good resource for finding certified masks online.
