Welcome      Grow       Serve      Celebrate

We hope to see you tonight for dinner on the grounds with a Shrimp Boil. Bring a chair and join us at 6 pm for dinner, fellowship, and fun. Waterslides will be on the lawn for the kids (and any adult ready and willing to jump in!)  We have invited some of our visitors to join in the Garden room at 5:15 before the dinner for a sort of orientation to Parkway Hills, so if you see a new face at the Shrimp Boil, I hope you make an extra effort to say hello and get to know those who have been worshipping alongside you recently at Parkway Hills.

Welcome PHUMC's newest member!

Rachael Carpenter, one of our Senior High Youth, joined PHUMC Sunday on a profession of faith. Rachael was baptized in the Gulf of Mexico in Panama City, Fla., July 4, during our Youth trip.
Be sure and welcome Rachael when you see her!

Homeless Ministry

PHUMC volunteers Jerry Sandlin, Juliet Huam,  Rev. Haven Boyd, Joe Williams, Jeannie Chunn and Bob Chunn celebrate one of the Grace Place guests earning a bicycle this morning. Grace Place provides a bicycle to participants who give ten hours of service. They also provide a shop to help keep the bicycles in good order. PHUMC partners with Galloway UMC to provide meals and other benefits to the homeless population in downtown Jackson. If you would like to help with this ministry, contact Juliet Huam. Volunteers carpool from the PHUMC parking lot on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 7:00 am.

Created By God is a UMC-endorsed curriculum teaching 5th and 6th graders and their families about faith and human sexuality. Parkway Hills UMC will be offering this course Friday, Aug.11 and Saturday, Aug.12 to our families and students. We will extend this opportunity to our rising 7th graders as well since this group missed Created By God due to Covid. The course will be $30 per student (this includes the meals, book, and materials for the course). If you are interested in your child taking part in this course, please fill out the registration form and bring it to Pastor Haven at church. We will also have printed forms available to fill out. The registration deadline is August 1. Invite any friends that may be interested in taking this course as well. Click here to register.
As of this morning, our Raise the Roof fund stands at $42,628.68.
I give thanks for the ways so many have stepped up to the plate to aid with funding our new roof and cannot believe how far we have already come, but we are not done yet. To date, we’ve had about 30% participation from our request for our church family to prayerfully discern donating $300 to help fund the new roof. We know for some $300 is not a lot at all and for others, $300 sounds impossible. If $300 sounds out of reach, what about $100? If $100 is too big an ask, what about $50? If you have never given to aid in the mission and ministry of Parkway Hills, this would be a great first step in giving. Funding church buildings is never the exciting part of ministry, but it is a valuable part of how we are able to be a presence in our community. We truly do best what we do together, and every little bit along the way helps in getting us to our goal. We get closer every day, and I give thanks for all the gifts along the way.

We look forward to seeing you Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for Sunday School, and at 10:45 a.m. as we continue the fun with "The Great Church Chill Out" July worship series.

Sunday School Volunteers: Join in the fun as we start a new unit for Sunday School and learn about some of our favorite Bible stories. If you are interested in volunteering, click here to sign up to teach. We will need two additional volunteers to assist with Pastor Haven each Sunday in the Garden.
