Today: Learn About Parking and More at the Staff Town Hall

Learn about getting to and around campus this fall, including the launch of new parking structures and real-time parking availability technology from Executive Director of Transportation Services Josh Kavanagh at today’s Staff Town Hall, happening at 2 p.m. Send any parking or transit questions for Josh via the registration form. Transitioning to the Workplace: Managing Anxiety

To support a healthy return to campus and public life, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is hosting a weekly “Transitioning the Workplace” discussion group. This is a great opportunity to come together in community to discuss your experiences during this time of transition and to learn about strategies to bolster your resilience and adaptability. The group is hosted weekly on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and is facilitated by an FSAP counselor.

Price Center Vaccination Clinic

According to the CDC, vaccinations against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, are a safe and effective way to prevent the virus. Free vaccines are available at the Price Center Vaccination Clinic for all UC San Diego students, faculty, and staff (including Health). We encourage all employees and students to make an appointment to get vaccinated as quickly as possible in order to protect the health and well-being of our campus community and our regional population.

UC San Diego Health Adopts SMART Health Card for Digital Vaccine Records

A new verifiable digital vaccine record is now available to all students, employees and patients who have received a COVID-19 test or vaccine through UC San Diego Health. These secure online records, otherwise known as a SMART health card, can be accessed directly from the MyUCSDChart patient portal. This technology allows individuals to easily share their health documentation digitally as a secure alternative to the paper card. Read the full story.

Your Questions Answered

Question: Who needs to conduct the daily symptom screening?
Answer: All UC San Diego students, faculty and staff who are coming to campus or any other physical UC San Diego location must conduct a daily symptom and exposure screening for COVID-19 and report any symptoms.
Employees who are working remotely and students who are studying remotely in the San Diego region are also strongly encouraged to conduct the daily self-screening for COVID-19 symptoms and report any symptoms.
Question: If I already had COVID-19 and recovered, do I still need to get vaccinated?
Answer: Yes, you should be vaccinated regardless of whether you already had COVID-19. That’s because experts do not yet know how long you are protected from getting sick again after recovering from COVID-19.
Even if you have already recovered from COVID-19, it is possible—although rare—that you could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 again. Studies have shown that vaccination provides a strong boost in protection in people who have recovered from COVID-19. Visit the CDC website to learn more about why getting vaccinated is a safer way to build protection than getting infected.
Question: Will getting a COVID-19 vaccine cause me to test positive for COVID-19 on a viral test?
Answer: No, this is false. None of the authorized and recommended COVID-19 vaccines cause you to test positive on viral tests, which are used to see if you have a current infection. Get more information from the CDC.
