| | 💉 Stay Healthy This Flu Season! |
This Flu Season We’ve Got You Covered |
Flu season can hit hard, especially in campus life where classrooms, shared apartments, and dorms make it easy for germs to spread. Getting sick doesn’t just mean missing class, it can disrupt your routines, social plans, and daily energy, adding extra stress while you recover.
The flu vaccine is your best defense. It helps reduce your risk of getting sick and protects the people around you — your roommates, friends, and community. UChicago students can get the vaccine for free at the flu clinics provided by Student Wellness!
Can’t make it to the flu clinics? No problem — you can schedule a flu vaccine appointment anytime through MyWellnessPortal. Protect yourself and your community this season!

Hi! My name is Ella Fast, and I am a third year student from Iowa City, Iowa. I am majoring in Law, Letters, and Society, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Political Science, and I also work at Student Wellness as the WellCzar and Safer Sex Supply Student Coordinator.
Something that brings me joy on campus:
Spending time on the quad as the seasons change! I love that we are in a place where we get to see flowers bloom and leaves change. Many of my favorite memories at UChicago have taken place lounging on the quad with my friends, and the whole space always brings me joy.
A moment I felt connected to the UChicago community:
Midnight breakfast (actually at 10pm) after the primal scream at the beginning of finals week has always been one of my favorite memories. Each quarter, I have loved feeling the community that arises out of this time where everyone is supporting one another and bonding before heading into finals week.
A wellness or self-care strategy that helps me manage stress:
Music has been a big way that I manage my stress during the school year. I often will play the trumpet, especially around finals week to focus on something that I am passionate about outside of school and to enjoy the act of playing. Listening to live music has also been an avenue for me to connect with other people, whether they be musicians or other audience members. “UChicago Presents” has a number of performances that you can attend with discounted ticket prices and many RSOs have performances, as well!
Advice you’d give your first-year self or someone starting at UChicago:
It can be very difficult coming into a new situation where it seems like everyone has everything figured out. It is okay to not know what your path is yet and it is okay to not have all of the answers. Look at the resources and the people around you to help guide you, and remember that you are here to learn and grow!

Our goal is to share the real, unfiltered stories of UChicago students—their challenges, passions, and moments of growth. By highlighting the diverse experiences that make up our campus community, we hope to foster connection, reduce stigma around seeking support, and remind students that no one’s journey looks the same.

Choose Sweets and Treats to Reveal Your Inner Monster 🍭🧟♂️
|
Think your dessert choices are harmless? Think again. From candy corn to chocolate cake, the sweet tooth you indulge in might be hiding a little monster inside you. I don’t trust what you vampires out there are putting in that red velvet cake… but I do know your favorite treat could reveal your inner creature of the night. Pick wisely, because your snack says a lot about you! 🎃🍬
