After last night's win over Idaho State, the Vikings men's basketball team moves on to the to the Big Sky Tournament semifinals.
If they keep the momentum going, the Vikings could be headed to the NCAA Tournament in Indianapolis for March Madness!

A Selection Sunday watch party will be held at Viking Pavilion on March 15.
Doors open at 2 p.m. and the NCAA Tournament selection show begins at 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

New Provost for Portland State |
On Friday, PSU President Ann Cudd announced the hiring of Dr. Robert Williams as the university’s next Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, starting in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Williams joins PSU from California State University, East Bay where he served as Academic Administrator and, previously, as Dean of the College of Education and Allied Studies.
In her email announcement to campus, President Cudd said Williams “has focused his career on expanding access to higher education while strengthening the operational foundations that allow universities to serve students effectively.”
President Cudd also expressed her gratitude for Provost Shelly Chabon, who has held the position for the last three years.
Williams will begin on July 1.

President's Town Hall rescheduled for March 18 |
PSU President Ann Cudd will present her vision for PSU's future and strategy for growth at a Town Hall on Wednesday, March 18 from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. The event was rescheduled from March 10 and moved to a larger venue in order to accommodate widespread interest.
This is an in-person event. A recording will be shared following the Town Hall.

New data: PSU emerges as key driver of downtown recovery |
Following the 2025 return-to-office transition, the President’s Office commissioned an ongoing study from ECONorthwest to monitor visitation trends on campus. The first Portland State University Foot Traffic Analysis is now available on the Office of Institutional Research and Planning (OIRP) Statistical Look webpage.
This quarterly study aims to provide a data-driven look at campus activity, specifically focusing on these questions:

How has PSU’s four day return to campus policy affected foot traffic?
- Where on campus is the recovery most prominent?

Key Findings:
The initial report shows that overall foot traffic — including employees, students, event attendees and tourists — increased by about five percent over the previous year. It also shows that, while the broader central city continues to face recovery challenges, Portland State remains a primary driver of downtown activity. Campus “hot spots” with the highest density of engagement include the Viking Pavilion, Smith Memorial Student Union, Cramer Hall and FMH.

Update on EAB Navigate transition to Slate |
The transition from EAB Navigate to Slate for Student Success is entering its final phase! EAB Navigate will officially sunset on March 31, 2026, and the project team is ensuring the data moves smoothly to its new home.

March 16 - Data Migration: All existing notes will move from EAB Navigate to student records in Slate. Migrated attachments will be viewable at a later date. **Please continue to refrain from entering new data into EAB Navigate.
- March 31 - System Decommission: After this date, you will no longer be able to log in to EAB Navigate.

All system data is being fully captured and archived. You can view migrated notes directly within student records in Slate starting March 16. More information is available on the project website. For any questions, please contact help-crm@pdx.edu.

University Communications features graduates each year in celebration of commencement and is seeking nominations for our 2026 storytelling. Graduates may be featured in profiles on the PDX.edu website, on social media, in marketing materials and in pitches to the media. Here's just one of the ways we celebrated our nominated graduates in 2025.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, March 30.

Nominate an outstanding student employee for recognition |
Every year, PSU honors the invaluable contributions of our more than 2,000 student employees at the annual Student Employment Awards. These students bring diverse experiences and skills to our community, and this event allows us to celebrate their exceptional work.
There are five individual award categories for student employees: Incredible Service to the Community, Leadership, Outstanding Advocacy, Key Contributor, and Rising Star. From these finalists, one student will be selected as Student Employee of the Year, awarded on May 1.
Help PSU recognize these outstanding student employees by submitting a nomination! The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 19.

Watch Honors College thesis presentations - Friday |
Drop in to the virtual Honors College Winter Thesis Symposium this Friday, March 13, and see what the graduating seniors have been up to! For the last year, Honors College students have been developing their thesis projects, working one-on-one with a faculty mentor in their major department. All presentations will take place over Zoom in three sessions: morning (9-11 a.m.), mid-day (11:20 a.m.-1:20 p.m.) and afternoon (1:40-3:40 p.m.). This Friday, enjoy an evening of festive harmony, heartfelt collaboration, and the timeless power of voices raised together, featuring the PSU Rose, Thorn, Briar and University Choirs. Our graduate students will present the work they’ve cultivated throughout their studies. Like petals opening toward the sun, this recital is a showcase of artistry in full bloom — featuring fresh conducting voices and imaginative programming from the next generation of choral educators and leaders.

Free Antisemitism class offered Spring 2026
