Shelley Liu and Edmund Malesky discussed Liu’s book, “Governing After War: Rebel Victories and Post-War Statebuilding,” during an event hosted by the Duke Center for International Development. Published in March by Oxford University Press, the book explores how wartime processes in different African countries affect state-building efforts.

The series launched with two virtual events - one with a technology and development theme and the other focusing on peacebuilding and conflict management.

Edmund Malesky discussed DCID's research on the dynamics of political will and its role in anti-corruption efforts during the 2024 USAID DRG Learning Forum. The study explored how corruption can be addressed in environments where political will is weak.

Master's Projects presented this spring ranged from enhancing Indonesia’s taxation for addressing income inequality to strengthening climate adaptation among small scale farmers to psychosocial support in humanitarian programs in Yemen.

| Congratulations to the Class of 2024 |
Twenty-six MIDP fellows (22 May 2024 grads, two Sept. 2024 grads and two Dec. 2023 grads) participated in the Sanford School of Public Policy graduate degree ceremony on May 10. Later that day, about 70 fellows, faculty, families and friends celebrated the graduates at Family Night, which included dinner and sharing stories about the MIDP experience.
